Have you seen these? It’s a Slimcado – an avocado hybrid from Florida that has half the fat and fewer calories than regular avocadoes.
My husband and I came across these hulking “slimcadoes” and decided to try them and see how they compared to regular avocadoes. In short, they’re not as good – slimcadoes aren’t as creamy or flavorful as regular avocadoes, no doubt because they lack the fat that makes them taste so good ordinarily. And while regular avocadoes do pack a lot of fat into a little package, it’s good fat, so I’m not sure the bland slimcado is a great substitute for a natural superfood.
I suppose if you are super concerned about it and really want to cut back on fat and calories, a slimcado may be a good bet. But it’s sort of like messing with an already-healthy food item, isn’t it?
What do you think?
